Great things to Do in SoHo on a Mom and Daughter Day
Looking for a great neighborhood for a mommy daughter day in New York City? Check out NYC’s Soho.
New York City - is there any other city in the world as iconic? It’s a city with a rich history full of visit-worthy sites, a city that can be visited again and again.
One of the best things about return visits to the Big Apple is that even after you’ve crossed off the must-dos in Times Square, Central Park, or Ellis Island, there are still so many parts of the city left to explore.
My daughters, sister and I recently scouted out one such neighborhood in NYC for a day out. In SoHo, we found yummy eats, shopping perfectly suited for a girls’ trip, and even threw in a little education. Check out our mommy daughter day in NYC’s SoHo.
Great Restaurants in Soho for Teens and Kids
We found there’s no shortage of great, unique restaurants in SoHo.
For something quick and easy, Vesuvio Bakery is one such place. It has croissants, muffins, sandwiches, and coffee.
Or try Blue Ribbon Brasserie. Known for being a late-night spot, it’s also a perfect mommy-daughter date place pre-late night. Things like fried chicken and wings keep the kids giving a thumbs up. More sophisticated dishes like rack of lamb make the adults happy.
Finally, we can’t leave behind Rice Kitchen, a spot offering affordable Korean food. It’s one of our families favorite cuisines and something we’ve found even our kid’s picky friends can enjoy. (Sides of rice make great go-tos in a pinch.)

Fun Soho Shopping on a Mommy Daughter Day
Steps away from Mercer kitchen, the shopping options range from high-end, to boutique, to more mainstream.
One of our favorite finds was the Detox Market, a store that specializes in all-natural skin care products. The girls loved sampling all of the all-natural fragrances and my sister and I found some great products.
We also had so much fun popping in the vintage jewelry and clothing shops. Nothing sparks the imagination like holding remnants from the past, imagining what the owners were like!
Memorable Education in NYC’s Soho
And to REALLY step into the past visit the Tenement Museum, where recreated apartment and businesses in two historic tenement buildings tell the stories of immigrants who lived on Manhattan's Lower East Side between the 19th and 21st centuries. The museum offers walking, guided tours through the physical space and re-told day-to-day life of the people who lived there. I loved our tour there and found it fascinating to learn how immigrants lived in the buildings in which we were walking. It is a truly unique museum experience. Make sure to check out the schedule before you go because self-guided tours aren’t permitted.
Another unique museum experience can be found at the Color Factory. This space presents art in a vibrant way that’s sure to bring a smile to your face. It’s part little-kid and big-kid playground, and part art museum. Just when you thought you were too old to jump into a ball pit, they’re here to prove you wrong.
